It was dull on the Friday morning, and then very wet. After a Supersport bike dumped oil on the track, delaying practice for nearly 2 hours, every practice session was very short. Fortunately qualifying and race day remained mostly dry. Michael Rutter qualified on pole with Dean Thomas 2nd, John Reynolds 3rd and Sean Emmett 4th. RACE 1 John Reynolds was in a determined mood and led from the start of the race. Steve Plater, Gary Mason, Michael Rutter, Sean Emmett and James Haydon were all going well at the start of the race. Unfortunately Haydon out-braked himself at Hizzy's Chicane and found himself back in 24th place. Reynolds was way out in-front when the race was stopped on lap 11 due to a light shower, which meant a two part race. Reynolds came home the winner, although not leading on the road. Steve Plater had his best finish in 5th, and James Haydon rode hard to finish in 14th and salvage a couple of points. James Ellison won the privateers race to be crowned the 2004 Superbike Cup Champion. RACE 2 Reynolds was again in determined mood and led from lap1 to take his first double win of the season. As in Race 1, Michael Rutter, Yukio Kagayama and Sean Emmett followed him home. Plater and Haydon had a bit of a battle, with Plater finishing 7th, just 0.045 secs, about half a bike's length, ahead of Haydon. Ellison had his 5th Superbike Cup double win of the season. SUPERSPORT Karl Harris (Honda) won the Supersport race to be crowned the 2004 Supersport Champion. Tom Sykes was 2nd with Jay Vincent 3rd and Leon Camier 4th. Craig Jones on the Triumph finally had a good finish in 5th. SUPERSTOCK The
Superstock race turned into a two part race when two of the front
runners, Tristan Palmer and Danny Beaumont, crashed at the Shell
hairpin. Beaumont was able to restart and won the race, but
Palmer's bike was too damaged and he sat out the rest of the race.
Ben Wilson finished 2nd, Lee Jackson was 3rd and Andy Tinsley 4th.
