The unusual happened at Snetterton, glorious sunny weather prevailed all weekend. There were a few crashes during qualifying, but Michael Rutter (HM Plant Honda) was on form, taking pole position. Dean Thomas (Sendo Ducati Dienza) had his best qualifying position in 2nd, with Sean Emmett and John Reynolds completing the front row of the grid. Karl Harris (HM Plant Honda) once again got pole position in the Supersport class, and Tristan Palmer (Suzuki) clinched pole position in the Superstock class. James Haydon (ETI Ducati) and Iain MacPherson (Vitrans Supersport Honda) were both making a one off return to racing after a year away. SUPERBIKES RACE 1 Sean Emmett (Monstermob Ducati) led on lap 1 from Reynolds (Rizla Suzuki), Thomas and Yukio Kagayama (Rizla Suzuki). Rutter was down in 7th place and James Ellison (Jentin Yamaha) was the leading privateer, mixing it with the factory riders. Reynolds and Kagayama were swapping the lead and Rutter was moving up through the pack into 3rd place by half distance. On lap 18 Kagayama took the lead to hang on to the flag and win the race from, Reynolds, Rutter and Emmett. James Ellison took the win in the Superbike Cup, from Dennis Hobbs. 3 laps from home Steve Plater (Virgin Mobile Yamaha) was taken out by Craig Coxhell (Vitrans Honda) RACE 2 John Reynolds led the 2nd race on lap 1, with Scott Smart (Hawk Kawasaki) briefly leading on lap 3. Reynolds took the lead again and stayed there until the chequered flag. Rutter once again started the race down the pack, but he steadily made up ground, and was in 2nd place, catching Reynolds towards the end of the race. Emmett and Kagayama rode steady races to finish 3rd and 4th. Ellison took his first Superbike Cup double win, with Hobbs 2nd once again. SUPERSPORT Karl Harris led the Supersport race on lap 1, followed by Pere Riba (Kawasaki) and Craig Jones on the Triumph. By lap 4 come-back racer Iain MacPherson was in 6th place and in the lead by lap 6, where he stayed until lap19 when he crashed out. Michael Laverty (Monstermob Ducati) was nowhere in the hunt until lap 17 when he was up to 5th place, 3 laps later he was in the lead and hung on for the win from Harris and Riba. SUPERSTOCK The lead in the Superstock race changed several times until Danny Beaumont took over at the front and secured the win when the race was cut short on lap 18, due to Mark Heckles (Yamaha) taking a heavy tumble. Ben Wilson (Suzuki) finished 2nd, with Tristan Palmer (Suzuki) in 3rd.
