BSB BRANDS HATCH ROUND 1, 26th MARCH 2006

SUPERBIKES

Gregorio Lavilla (Airwaves Ducati) started from where he left off at the end of 2005 by winning the first race at Brands Hatch.  He was being followed by his team mate Leon Haslam, until Haslam had a big "off" at Paddock Hill, and the race was stopped This left Karl Harris (HM Plant Honda) in 2nd and Michael Rutter (Stobart Honda) in 3rd.

Race 2 was run in wet conditions, with Lavilla the only rider going out on slick tyres, and paying the price for it.  Ryuichi Kiyonari (HM Plant Honda) on full "wets" ran away with the race by 19 seconds.  Haslam, riding with an injured wrist, just managed to beat Lavilla for 2nd place, with Lavilla in 3rd.  Craig Coxhell (Hawk Kawasaki) making his return to British Superbikes had a good 4th place finish.
