BSB MALLORY PARK Round 3 24/04/05 The weather was dry and sunny all weekend at Mallory Park. Once again HM Plant Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari was on top form in qualifying finishing in pole position. Michael Rutter (HM Plant Honda) was second and they were joined on the front row by the two Hawk Kawasakis of Glen Richards and Dean Thomas. RACE 1 Kiyonari led the field away closely followed by Rutter, Richards and Gregorio Lavilla (Airwaves Ducati). Lavilla and Karl Harris (Honda) both crashed out on the second lap at Gerards, bringing out the pace car. Then on lap 6 disaster for Kiyonari as he crashed out under breaking at Edwina's, and the race was stopped. Rutter led the restart with Richards in 2nd and a brief moment of glory for Tristan Palmer (Vivaldi Kawasaki) in 3rd. The race finally settled down with Rutter winning from Richards and Leon Haslam (Airwaves Ducati) coming through to take 3rd. Results: 1. Rutter, 2. Richards, 3. Haslam, 4.Sean Emmett (Virgin Mobile Yamaha), 5. Scott Smart (Rizla Suzuki), 6. Thomas. RACE 2 With Kiyonari out Rutter led them away with Richards and Thomas hot on his heals. The red flag came out after Tommy Hill and Danny Beaumont tangled at the bottom of Devil's Elbow. Eight laps into the restart Michael Pensavalle's Kawasaki blew an oil seal bringing the red flags out again. The race was then reduced to a 12 lap dash. This was won by Rutter from Richards and Lavilla. Results: 1. Rutter, 2. Richards, 3. Lavilla, 4. Thomas, 5 Haslam, 6. Harris. SUPERSPORT Jay Vincent (Honda), Leon Camier (Honda), Tom Sykes (Suzuki) and Craig Jones (Honda) made up the front row. This race was also red flagged after a few laps. In the restart the front starters were disputing the lead until Vincent came off but restarted. The race was won by Camier from Sykes and Jones. Results: 1. Camier, 2. Sykes, 3. Jones, 4. Cal Crutchlow (Honda), 5. Jamie Robinson (Honda), 6. Vincent. SUPERSTOCK This race was stopped after
just one lap. The race was won by local Aussie Paul Young on his
Yamaha, from Lee Jackson (Yamaha), Craig Fitzpatrick (Yamaha) and Marshall
Neill (Kawasaki). |
